A plenary session of commissions of the Chamber of Deputies issued a consensus opinion between the ruling party and the opposition on a project that establishes that all educational, sports and social institutions must create a prevention protocol against child sexual abuse in different areas where children attend, girls and adolescents. The Committees on Family, Children and Youth, and Cooperative Affairs, Mutual Affairs and Non-Governmental Organizations, chaired by the radical Santa Cruz Roxana Reyes, and the radical Jorge Vara, decided to modify the text sanctioned by the Senate, with which - in case of be the opinion approved by the Chamber of Deputies - must be sent for review to the Upper House. The initiative, whose authorship corresponds to the radical senator María Belén Tapia, establishes that "any institution, organization or sports, social-recreational, educational, religious or any other establishment, public or private, that is in charge of or involved in its activities to girls, boys or adolescents, must have a protocol for the prevention and detection of sexual abuse against girls, boys and adolescents, approved by the corresponding authority for the protection of the rights of girls, boys and adolescents. The protocol "must safeguard the personal data and privacy of the children and adolescents involved and guarantee the best interests of the child." The official Rioja legislator Hilda Soria pointed out that this project was achieved "through consensus so that this protocol today has a signature, putting the rights of children and adolescents above all else." In addition, it establishes that the Secretariat for Children must make information material, training, advice, protocol models, and other tools that it deems relevant for the preparation of these protocols available to the institutions.
